What is The Magic Ring?
The Magic Ring (also known as adjustable ring for amigurumi) is a technique used to begin crocheting in a round by crocheting over an adjustable loop, then pulling the loop tight. It doesn’t leave an unpleasant hole in the middle of your crochet motif, amigurumi, or Granny’s square.
I remember the times when I was chaining 2-4 stitches, closing in the round, and praying it will not have a hole. Well, there always was a hole! I wish how to make Magic Ring in crochet (aka. adjustable ring, crochet magic loop) back then.
Now, I can show you how I make it in the picture tutorial! There are two methods – both give the same result, just the way of creating is slightly different.

How to make an increase in single crochet adjustable ring
When the magic worked and you managed to get an adjustable ring right, there is a question – how to work first round and make increases.
Crochet adjustable ring first round
Usually, the first round will be 6 stitches. Work over both strands of the loop.
Crochet magic ring second round
When you do a single crochet in the round, the second round is 2 single crochet in each stitch (2 sc), you will end up with 12 stitches after completing round 2.
