DIY Crochet Keychain
If you have leftover yarn from a project, don’t just let it sit around – use it to crochet a cute key chain! This is an adorable amigurumi animal key chain that will add some flair to your keys and add some personality to your bag.
Materials
- Cotton yarn for amigurumi – white and cream. Little bit of brown thread for mouth and eyes.
- Crochet hook 2.25 mm (US B/1) or according to yarn weight. Can be smaller or larger.
- Needle
- Stuffing material or scrap yarn.
- Key chain ring
- Stitch marker
Abbreviations (US terms)
ch – chain stitch
sc – single crochet
st/sts – stitch/stitches
dec – decrease (invisible decrease – put a crochet hook only in the front loops)
Head
Crochet in spiral without joining the rounds.
Start with cream color.
6 sc in magic ring (6sts). Place marker on the first stitch.
2 sc in each st of previous row (12sts)
*2sts in next st, 1st in next st; rep from * to end (18sts)
– 8. 18 sc (18st)
*1st in next st, dec; rep from * to end (12sts)
dec 6 times (6 sts)
Cut yarn, leaving longer tail, fill the head and sew.
Ears
Use cream yarn.

*2sts in next st rep from * to end (12sts)
Cut the yarn, leaving longer tail, sew ears in place.
Curly sheep hair
White yarn. Secure yarn at the back of the head, chain 6, slip stitch just in the next place to secure the chain. Chain 6 again and slip stitch in the next available place.
Make as many chains as you like to meet desired look.
Eyes and mouth
Using brown sewing thread, embroider eyes and mouth in place.
How to attach key chain?
Thread the yarn through the key chain.
Thread through where you’d like to attach it.
Go back through the key chain.
Insert your needle at the same stitch you went through at the beginning and out just next place.
Repeat 2-3 more times. Weave in end and cut the yarn.
